This is a card I made for someone at work who went on maternity leave a few weeks ago. Gender of baby was unknown, so I went for something to reflect both possibilities.
This was fun, I used some old papers I hadn’t visited in a while. I covered a large tag with a fragment that had a flower and a butterfly on it, edged it in ink and then mounted it on gold paper. Meanwhile I used a striped paper and a crossed paper from the same set (so the colours and tones matched) to put rectangles on the background. I like the harmonious feel of the whole effect. I added flowers and gems, and a ribbon to the tag before mounting it to the card. I also then stamped ‘sugar’ and ‘spice’ in the diagonally opposite corners and edged the card with the same colour ink as the tag.
Inside I used an insert with the word congratulations stamped in multiple inks. The short sides have been punched with my Martha Stewart doily punch, and the whole thing swiped with burgundy ink before being attached to the cardstock.
The envelope has been stamped with the flourish stamp, edged in ink down the left side, and then paper flowers attached that have also been swiped with ink. Sticky backed gems in a matching burgundy have been placed in the centre of each flower.
